Office of Health Information Exchange and Policy Analysis

The Office of Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Policy Analysis, within the Agency for Health Care Administration, is responsible for the administration of programs for the creation of a statewide health information network through the adoption and utilization of electronic health records. The Agency’s mission is to achieve relevant, secure, and sustainable approaches to Health Information Technology (HIT) adoption, utilization and exchange that drives the achievement of better health care outcomes for all Floridians through improved access to information.

The Office of HIE and Policy Analysis works with stakeholders to support health care clinical information exchange that is privacy protected, aligns with state and national standards, and is cost-effective for participants. These efforts include the Florida Health Information Exchange (Florida HIE) Services and the Emergency Patient Look-Up System (E-PLUS). 

The Office of HIE & Policy Analysis also oversees the Patient Safety Culture Survey and Electronic Prescribing programs; and provides research as well as analytic support to the Agency.

2021 Health IT Environmental Scan

An Environmental Scan was conducted by the Agency for Health Care Administration and HealthTech Solutions to assess Health Information Technology (HIT) adoption in the state.
