Persons that meet the following requirements are eligible to receive Long-Term Care (LTC) program services:
- Age 65 and over and eligible for Medicaid; or
- Age 18 and over and eligible for Medicaid due to a disability; and
- Determined by the Comprehensive Assessment and Review for Long-Term Care Services (CARES) Program at the Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) to be at nursing home level of care or hospital level of care for persons with cystic fibrosis.
Two (2) state agencies decide whether a person may get LTC services. The DOEA decides medical eligibility for Medicaid, and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) decides financial eligibility for Medicaid.
