Mandatory Online Renewals Reminder

On March 5, 2024, Rule 59A-35.060(2), Florida Administrative Code, required all providers to submit license renewal application forms, fees, and supporting documents electronically through the Online Licensing System. Effective September 5, 2024, renewal applications submitted by mail will not be accepted and will be returned to the provider. Renewals are required to be filed by a specific deadline and must be submitted on time electronically.

Long Term Care Services Unit

The Long Term Care Services Unit within the Division of Health Quality Assurance is responsible for licensing, registering, and regulating various health care providers. The unit strives to ensure these providers comply with standards of safety and quality established by state and federal regulations.

Health Facility Reporting System

The Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency) requires all licensees providing residential or inpatient services to use an Agency approved database for reporting its emergency status, planning or operations. The Agency approved database for reporting this information is the Health Facility Reporting System (HFRS).

Licensed and Regulated Programs

Health Care Services Pool - a business that provides licensed, certified or trained health care personnel to work as temporary staff for hospitals, nursing homes, residential facilities and other health care businesses.

Homemaker & Companion Services Provider - an organization that provides homemakers and companions for elderly and disabled adults. Homemakers provide housekeeping, shopping assistance, meal preparation and other chores. Companions visit clients in their homes, may serve meals, and may accompany clients on outings.

Home Medical Equipment Provider - any person or entity that offers to sell or rent to a consumer any home medical equipment that requires equipment related services such as delivery, set up and maintenance of the equipment.

Hospice - an entity that provides a continuum of palliative and supportive care for the terminally ill patient and patient's family.

Intermediate Care Facilities - Intermediate Care Facilities provide care and residence for individuals with developmental disabilities. A developmental disability is a disorder or syndrome that is attributable to retardation, cerebral palsy, autism, spina bifida, or Prader-Willi syndrome that manifests before the age of 18 and constitutes a substantial handicap that can reasonably be expected to continue indefinitely.

Nursing Homes - provide 24 hour a day nursing care, case management, health monitoring, personal care, nutritional meals and special diets, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, social activities and respite care for those who are ill or physically infirm.

Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Facilities - non-residential provider that serves three or more children under the age of 21 who require short, long term or intermittent medical care due to medically complex conditions.

Transitional Living Facilities - facility that assists persons with spinal cord injuries and persons with head injuries to achieve a higher level of independent functioning in daily living skills.
