Florida Medicaid’s Covered Services and HCBS Waivers
Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program Services
Medicaid reimburses for Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program (SIPP) services to provide extended psychiatric residential treatment with the goal of facilitating successful return to treatment in a community-based setting. SIPP services include:
- Individual plan of care
- Assessment
- Routine medical and dental care
- Certified educational programming
- Recreational, vocational, and behavior analysis service
- Therapeutic home assignment
This service is one of the minimum covered services for all Managed Medical Assistance plans serving Medicaid enrollees.
Eligibility
Florida Medicaid recipients requiring medically necessary Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program services who meet the following criteria:
- Under the age of 21 years
- Require treatment in a psychiatric residential setting due to a primary diagnosis of emotional disturbance or serious emotional disturbance as defined in Chapter 394, Florida Statutes.

SIPP services are authorized by Attachment 3-1-A of the Florida Medicaid State Plan under the Inpatient Psychiatric Services for Individuals under 21 benefit.
